(2 Revivalvillians)
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
To the saints in Revivalville who stand firm in Christ, and to all who call upon His name in sincerity and truth: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Encouragement for Those Who Obeyed
I rejoice that some among you received my first letter not as the words of man, but as the Word of God in truth. You have turned from chasing after emotional winds and have set your minds on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
You now walk in the assurance that the Spirit dwells in you, and your gatherings are marked by love, edification, and the teaching of sound doctrine. For this I give thanks to God, who began this good work in you and will bring it to completion.
Rebuking Those Who Persist in Error
Yet I must speak plainly to those who resisted the truth and continue in the same errors. You still say, “God will move when we are desperate enough,” as though the cross and resurrection were not enough to secure His presence.
Some among you still claim to hold a special anointing that others cannot have unless they receive it from your hands. Do you not know that every believer is anointed by the Holy One (1 John 2:20), and that no man may boast over another?
You still demand that the church cry out for revival, while ignoring the plain teaching that God has already blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 1:3).
Warning Against Manipulative Leaders
I hear that certain leaders among you still bind consciences with talk of “spiritual covering” and “submission to the revival vision.” You place heavy burdens on the flock, while you yourselves will not lift them with a finger.
Let me remind you: Christ alone is the head of the church. Those who exalt themselves above the Word will be brought low. Beware of shepherds who feed only themselves — they are clouds without water, promising rain but delivering none.
Confronting the Idol of Experience
Many of you still measure God’s presence by goosebumps, tears, or falling to the floor. This is not maturity but infancy. The Spirit’s work is proven in the fruit of obedience, not in the height of your emotional state.
Stop chasing signs as though you were the Pharisees demanding miracles. You have the gospel — the power of God for salvation — why do you run after spectacles?
Exhortation to Return to the Word
Revivalville, the path back is simple: Devote yourselves to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer — not the endless pursuit of “the next thing.”
The Spirit was poured out at Pentecost and has not left. Your task is not to summon Him but to walk in Him, keeping step with His leading as revealed in the Word.
Final Words
To those who love the truth, I say: Stand firm and do not be swayed by smooth-tongued deceivers. To those who persist in error, I say with tears: Repent before the Lord disciplines you for your good.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all who love Him in sincerity. Amen.
