Not Ashamed in Rome—or Anywhere Else: Rom 1:16

1–2 minutes

Paul had been through it all.

He’d been locked up in Philippichased out of Thessalonicasmuggled out of Berealaughed at in Athensmocked in Corinth, and stoned in Galatia.

Yet somehow… he still says:

“I am not ashamed of the gospel.”

Wait, what?

After that kind of track record, most of us would be tempted to quit. Or at least tone it down. But Paul wasn’t interested in PR strategies. He wasn’t scared of being canceled by the culture. He wasn’t worried about being “too bold.”

Why?

Because he knew what the gospel is.

This wasn’t just a spiritual pep talk or a comforting idea. This was power—God’s power—to save anyone who believes.

Jew, Gentile, insider, outsider.

It didn’t matter your background. If you had faith, you had life.

He says, “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith.”

That means the more you believe it, the more you see it.

The gospel doesn’t just rescue you once—it transforms you every day.

Paul wasn’t driven by ego or pride.

He didn’t care if people thought he was a fool.

He had seen lives changed.

He had seen his own life changed.

So no matter how rough the path got, he stayed bold.

Because once you’ve tasted this kind of grace, you can’t keep quiet about it.
