Living in Light of the Finished Work

2–3 minutes

Introduction: More Than Charts and Timelines

For many, eschatology is about speculation — rapture dates, Antichrist conspiracies, or tribulation fears. But for those who rest in the Finished Work of Christ, eschatology isn’t about panic. It’s about peace, purpose, and hope.

The cross has already secured our future. That changes how we live in the present.

1. No Fear of Tribulation

Finished Work theology reminds us: Jesus already bore God’s wrath in our place.

“Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” (Romans 5:9)

This means we don’t live in fear of an end-time outpouring of wrath. Believers are safe in Christ. Our hope is resurrection, not escape.

2. Confidence in Christ’s Reign Now

Amillennial eschatology teaches that Christ is reigning right now.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Matthew 28:18)

This isn’t future. It’s present. As Curry Blake often emphasizes: the kingdom is here now, and believers are called to walk in Christ’s authority today. That changes daily life — from how we pray, to how we share the gospel, to how we face opposition.

3. Living as Ambassadors of the Kingdom

Paul writes:

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

If Christ already reigns, then every believer carries kingdom authority into their workplace, family, and community. We are not waiting for the kingdom to arrive; we are extending its reach through love, healing, and truth.

4. Hope Anchored in Resurrection

Because the work is finished, our hope is not uncertain. We await one thing: Christ’s appearing.

“When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” (Colossians 3:4)

This hope fuels perseverance. Life may still bring suffering, but the resurrection is certain. Death is the last enemy — and it will be destroyed.

5. Encouragement for Daily Life

  • Instead of fear: rest in Christ’s finished work.
  • Instead of delay: live in the kingdom now.
  • Instead of charts: fix your eyes on resurrection hope.
  • Instead of shrinking back: walk boldly as one seated with Christ.

Conclusion: It Is Finished — And It Will Be Revealed

Eschatology is not about guessing the future. It’s about living in light of what Christ has already done. His words remain true:

“It is finished.” (John 19:30)

The kingdom has come, Christ reigns now, and His return will unveil the fullness of what He already accomplished. Until then, we live not as fearful spectators but as empowered ambassadors.
