Are you still complaining about what happened?

2–3 minutes

There’s not a single person who has gone through injustices in their lives. I’ve been through my share too. It is easy to fall into the trap of complaining about the injustices we have endured. We might say, “People deserted me. They abandoned me when I stood for the truth. They lacked courage, and I was left alone, helpless, without support.” It may seem as though we are simply expressing the reality of what happened.

However, if we are not careful, our hurt can take the drivers seat of our lives, our actions and even our ministry.

Finding Security in Christ’s Approval

The main reason why people find it hard to let go, is because they have placed their worth elsewhere. Yes, injustice hurts. Yes, betrayal stings. But, when we constantly rehearse our pain and injustices, it is a sign that our hearts have drifted from the assurance of God’s love and have begun seeking approval from the world. This is a dangerous trap—one that leads only to frustration and spiritual stagnation.

We are fully accepted in Him (Ephesians 1:6), holy and blameless before Him (Colossians 1:22), and righteous in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). When our hearts are anchored in His approval, we no longer seek the validation of the world.

Our Approval Rating in Christ: A 100% Guarantee

Politicians constantly worry about approval ratings—whether 50% or 60%. But as believers, we have an approval rating of 100% in Christ! It never fluctuates, never decreases, and never depends on the opinions of others.

This is why we must stop complaining about past injustices. Enough is enough! Complaining keeps us trapped in a victim mindset. But when we declare, “My approval is in Christ Jesus”, we step into the freedom of God’s love.

Conclusion: Live in God’s Approval, Not in the Opinions of Others

We must shift our focus from people’s reactions to God’s approval.

  • If you have been abandoned, God has not abandoned you (Deuteronomy 31:8).
  • If you have been slandered, God is your defender (Psalm 62:2).
  • If you have been betrayed, God is your faithful friend (John 15:15).

The world’s approval is temporary and unreliable, but God’s approval is eternal and unshakable. Let us fix our eyes on Him, stand firm in our identity, and refuse to be distracted by past hurts.

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”—Galatians 1:10

Let that truth set you free today!
