Chapter 1: The Summons
The grand courtroom of the universe is filled with an intense silence. The plaintiff, a devout believer who has fallen ill, sits at the bench, weak but determined, surrounded by angels. On the other side, the accuser—Satan himself—stands with a smug smile, ready to make his case against Father-God.
The Judge, robed in brilliant light, presides over the proceedings with an undeniable authority. The tension in the room is thick. All creation watches in anticipation.
“Order in the court!” booms the Judge. “Let the case be heard: Has God, the Father of all, made His own child sick?”
The devil rises, sharp in demeanor. “Your Honor,” he begins, “this believer, once a picture of health, now lies stricken with sickness. And who, if not God, is responsible? Isn’t He sovereign? Isn’t He all-powerful? It was He who allowed this sickness—perhaps even sent it—to teach this believer a lesson, to mold them through suffering. This illness serves no other purpose but to reveal God’s ‘hidden will.’”
The gallery gasps, a murmur rippling through the onlookers. The believer’s parents glare at God, their faces twisted with hatred. The believer himself, lips trembling, stares at God in silence, unable to voice the turmoil within.
Why would God give me this illness? he wonders.
Why this pain? Confusion floods his mind, but then a wave of fear strikes him. I shouldn’t even be thinking this. If I question Him, He might get angry—He might punish me.
Chapter 2: The Defense Rises
Suddenly, a figure rises from the defense side—a being glowing with righteous authority. It is the Advocate, the believer’s lawyer. He approaches the bench with calm confidence. The Advocate is none other than Jesus, the Son of God.
“Your Honor,” Jesus begins, “the accusations brought forth by the adversary are nothing more than lies twisted to malign the Father’s name. My Father is not in the business of inflicting suffering upon His children. He is a healer, not a destroyer. If it pleases the court, I will present my argument.”
The Judge nods. “Proceed.”
Jesus turns toward the gallery. “First, we must address the claim that God made this believer sick. Let’s look at the motive? What purpose would it serve for a loving Father to inflict harm on His own child? Let us not forget His Word: ‘I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.’ A father disciplines, yes, but not with destruction. My Father sent me, not to condemn the world, but to save it.”
“Objection, Your Honor”, the devil interrupts. I have proof from the accused’s Word in Hebrews 12 that he chastises His children.
“Your Honor”, Jesus responds. “As you can see the same word for chastisement was used in other areas as nurture, train. My Father doesn’t chastise using sickness but rather through nurture. He is the best Father. The devil has always made accusations of similar nature. He twister the Father’s Word in the garden and also tried to twist the Word in His interaction with me in the desert. He has a history of manipulating the Word”
He pauses, letting the weight of His words settle.
“Moreover, Your Honor, sickness does not further God’s kingdom. It is counterproductive to His purpose. A healthy believer can serve, spread the gospel, and demonstrate the power of God to heal. If sickness were His tool, it would contradict His very nature—Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals.”
The devil, with a sly grin, rises from his seat and presents two exhibits. “Your Honor, I have some surprise testimony,” he says, holding up three scrolls of scripture. He unfurls the first. “Exhibit A: Paul’s thorn in the flesh. And Exhibit B: Job’s suffering.”
The courtroom falls into a tense silence as the accuser turns to God, his eyes gleaming with wicked delight. “Look at all this!” he exclaims, gesturing toward the scriptures.
He begins his argument. “Paul, one of God’s most devoted followers, was given a thorn in the flesh. It was a sickness, an affliction directly from God to keep him humble. God Himself said to Paul, ‘My grace is sufficient for you.’ Does that not prove that God uses sickness as a tool to discipline His own?” The accuser paces, savoring the unrest growing in the room. The gallery starts to murmur in confusion.
“And then there’s Job,” Satan continues, opening the second scroll. “God Himself allowed Job to be afflicted with disease. He gave Satan permission to strike him with boils, to bring him to the brink of death, all as a test! God gave him sickness, plain and simple. This proves that God is the one who sends suffering to His children!” He finishes his argument with a satisfied smirk, confident he has delivered a blow to the defense.
The courtroom is abuzz with whispers.
Suddenly, Jesus rises, His voice steady but firm. “Not true, Your Honor,” He declares, stepping forward. “Once again, the accuser is twisting scripture to serve his own ends.”
Jesus approaches the evidence. “Let us address Paul’s thorn first. The word ‘thorn’ is used throughout scripture, and it consistently refers to people—enemies, adversaries—not sickness. Paul was speaking of persecution, of those who tormented him. This was not an illness but a person, a messenger of Satan sent to harass him. My Father did not place sickness upon Paul.”
He turns to face the gallery, His eyes filled with compassion. “And as for Job, let it be clear: Job’s sickness did not come from God, but from this very devil. God was not the author of the disease. More importantly, Job lived before the covenant was established. He had no access to the promises of healing that my Father now extends to all who are in covenant with Him through Me. This believer is in a covenant relationship with God—a covenant that cannot be broken. And everyone here knows that the Father never violates His covenant.”
A shocked silence falls over the courtroom. The crowd is left stunned, wrestling with the truth revealed before them, wondering if what they’ve believed all along has been misunderstood.
Chapter 3: Exposing the Deceiver
Jesus continues, “But let us turn our attention to the real cause of this suffering—the true perpetrator in this case.” He gestures toward the accuser, Satan.
“Scripture reveals Satan’s role as ‘the thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.’ His accusations today are an attempt to cover his own tracks. He seeks to deflect blame onto the Father, so that the believer will doubt God’s goodness, become alienated, and lose faith. It’s a strategy he has used since the Garden of Eden, when he twisted God’s words to Eve.”
Jesus gazes at the courtroom, His eyes full of compassion, and addresses the crowd. “Tell me honestly,” He begins, His voice calm but piercing. “If you knew someone who would make you carry a child for nine months, allow you to raise that child for two years, only to tragically take the child away to ‘teach you a lesson,’ would you truly love that person? Even if it was claimed to be for some greater good?”
He pauses, letting His words sink in before continuing. “In any law of the land, this person would be called an abuser, not a loving protector. That’s what the devil wants. He wants you to hate my Father from deep within, so that you will self destruct, being away from my Father. That’s why many of the believers, are in depression, committing suicide, because deep within, they have lost hope in the love of my Father who cares. Only if they knew”
The devil interrupts “Objection your Honor, the Father allowed it to happen. After all, He is sovereign”
As the tension thickens in the courtroom, Jesus takes a deep breath and addresses the crowd. “Let me make something clear,” He begins, eyes scanning the room. “Sovereignty doesn’t mean that God is fickle or changes His mind on a whim. My Father is not like that. When He gave authority to man in the Garden of Eden, He gave dominion over the whole earth to humanity. That authority was real, and it wasn’t something He would take back.”
The Judge leans forward, His voice echoing through the room. “I can see it in the creation statement,” He affirms, reading from the scroll that outlines the dominion given to man over all creation.
Jesus continues, “But this devil tricked man into becoming his slave and seized that authority over the world. However, I came to win it back. I took the keys of death and hell. Now, the believer is supposed to use my authority over his life, to resist this very devil’s schemes.”
Satan stands abruptly, cutting in with a sneer. “But you allowed the believer to wreck his life!” he accuses, pointing an accusing finger at Jesus.
“It isn’t true,” Jesus replies firmly, His voice unwavering. “My Father does not override the authority He has given to man. That’s why He has worked through humanity throughout history to fulfill His purposes. Even in the Garden of Eden, the devil didn’t have the authority to be there on his own. That’s why he came in the form of a serpent—deception was his only way in.”
Jesus’ tone softens, and His eyes fill with sorrow as He speaks of His Father’s heart. “Every time He sees His children suffer, His heart aches. My Father’s desire is that His children rule the earth, exercise dominion, and use the kingdom authority He has given them. But the devil blinded them, abused them, and twisted their minds with lies, turning them against God.”
With a fierce yet compassionate look toward the gallery, Jesus concludes, “The devil’s accusations against my Father are meant to keep believers from realizing the authority they’ve been given. But the truth remains: God’s heart is for His children to reign in life, not to suffer under the weight of deception and destruction.”
Jesus steps closer to the Judge, His eyes blazing. “Your Honor, I request a motion to file a case against the accuser himself. It is time we lay bare his role in this suffering.”
The Judge’s gavel comes down. “Granted. The court will now hear the case of God vs. Satan: The True Source of Suffering.”
The devil is stunned “What?!! Objection Your…”
“Silence…!!” Orders the Judge.
Chapter 4: The Defendant’s True Colors
Now Satan is the defendant, seated at the stand, squirming under the weight of the charges against him. The Advocate takes the floor again.
“Your Honor,” Jesus says, “I call to the stand Exhibit A: The account of Job. Satan himself inflicted suffering upon Job, all the while accusing God of being the cause. And when Job’s friends spoke, what did they do? They echoed the same lie the accuser perpetuates today—that somehow God was behind Job’s afflictions. But the truth was clear—Satan was the one who brought destruction to Job’s family, his wealth, and his health.”
Jesus calls the angels to bring forth records of testimonies from the past.
“Exhibit B: Israel in the wilderness. Satan tempted them with doubt, trying to make them believe God had abandoned them to die. Yet, every time, God provided, healed, and led them to the Promised Land.”
“And finally,” Jesus announces, “Exhibit C: The cross. Satan’s ultimate plot to destroy God’s plan for salvation by crucifying the Son of God. But even here, God turned the tables, bringing eternal life through death. Always God has been a healer, given life, but Satan has always portrayed Him as one who brings sickness for the greater good. He campaigns all around the world saying that the Father and he works together and he brings sickness based on God’s wish. Your Honor, the Word says that it is the Holy Spirit’s role to bring into all remembrance and to mould a person through the Word, not the devil”
Chapter 5: Proof of the Enemy’s Motive
Jesus now drives the point home.
“Your Honor, it is clear that Satan’s ultimate goal is to separate God’s children from the Father. He sows sickness, destruction, and confusion, then whispers lies that these afflictions come from God. Why? Because he knows that a believer who doubts God’s love is a believer who loses hope and power. Satan benefits when the children of God believe they are abandoned and unloved. And since it’s God’s love that brings a person into repentance, casting doubts on the goodness of God, works in His favor”
Jesus steps forward, holding a scroll with divine authority. “Your Honor,” He says, unrolling the document for all to see, “this is the legal status for every believer. By My stripes, every believer is healed.” He pauses and turns His back, revealing the deep scars from the lashes He endured. “I paid in full for their healing. How could God be against something when He Himself paid for it? How can He be against the believer being healed when I already bore the price for their sickness?”
Jesus’ eyes pierce through the courtroom as He points to the document. “But this devil,” He says, motioning to Satan, “has deceived believers into thinking that sickness is God’s plan. He has destroyed homes, stolen health, and brought destruction. But Your Honor, look at the legal document—it’s clear. He had no right. He has no legal authority to do what he did!”
Satan, visibly agitated, hurls verbal abuse toward Jesus and the courtroom, roaring, “I’ll do whatever I wish! They are mine!” His voice echoes through the room as gasps ripple through the gallery.
“Silence!” the Judge commands, His voice booming, restoring order to the courtroom.
Jesus, standing tall and calm, addresses the Judge. “Your Honor, in one sense, the devil is partially right. They were his, and they were on their way to destruction. But now, I present this—the Book of Life.” He opens it, pointing to the believer’s name. “This believer is written in the Book of Life. They became righteous by faith in Me, and I am their righteousness.”
The Judge looks at the book and nods in agreement. “This is true,” He declares.
The courtroom falls into stunned silence. The gallery, shocked, realizes the magnitude of the truth that has just been revealed: the believer is no longer under the devil’s power. Victory has been won, and the legal right to healing has been upheld in the highest court, as the evidence mounts against Satan. His long history of destruction is undeniable, and his motive—to alienate God’s children—is clear.
Chapter 6: The Verdict
The Judge stands. “The evidence is overwhelming. Satan, you are guilty of deceit, destruction, and the defamation of God’s name. You have used sickness to torment God’s children, and your lies have caused untold suffering.”
Satan, no longer smug, trembles before the judgment seat.
“The court hereby declares that sickness is not of God. It is a weapon of the enemy, used to undermine faith, alienate God’s children, and cast doubt on His goodness.”
The gavel slams down with finality.
Chapter 7: The Restoration

After the trial, the believer, now healed, stands before the gallery. Jesus approaches, placing a comforting hand on their shoulder.
“The verdict is clear,” Jesus says softly. “You were never abandoned. God’s purpose has always been to heal, restore, and bring life. The enemy sought to confuse you, but the truth has been revealed. You are free.”
The believer, overwhelmed with emotion, turns toward God with tears in his eyes. “I’m sorry, Lord, for believing the lies,” he whispers, stepping forward and embracing God tightly.
In that moment, God wraps His arms around the believer, radiating love and grace. “My child,” God says gently, “I have always loved you, and my plans for you have always been good. My grace is more than enough, even when the enemy tries to cloud your vision. You are mine, and nothing can change that.”
Epilogue: The Devil’s Defeat
As the courtroom empties, Satan is led away in chains, his plans exposed for all to see. The believer leaves, healed and whole, with a renewed sense of purpose and an unshakable faith in their Father’s goodness.
And as the doors close behind them, the truth rings out across eternity: Sickness is not of God. Healing is His will.
The Word is settled forever in heaven. Is it settled in your heart?
