The Masterplan of Redemption That No Mind Could Ever Devise
Romans 11:33–36
“Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?
Or who has given a gift to Him that He might be repaid?For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
To Him be glory forever. Amen.”
Have you ever stopped to think about how extraordinary God’s plan of redemption really is?
It’s unbelievable, isn’t it?
When man sinned in the garden, God removed the tree of life — not out of cruelty, but mercy. Imagine if Adam had eaten from it after falling — he would have lived forever as someone spiritually lost, eternally separated from the Source of life. So God, in His mercy, guarded the tree.
But He didn’t stop there. From that moment on, He began weaving a masterplan — one so profound that not even angels could have imagined it.
The Covenant and the Chosen Path
God made a covenant with certain people — Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants — not because He played favourites, but because He had chosen them as the carriers of His redemptive promise.
Through faith, they held onto what they could not yet see. Their calling was to prepare the way for the One who would bring salvation to all.
And when the time came, Jesus arrived.
He walked among them — and once again, there were two kinds of people:
those who had faith and those who rejected Him.
Someone Had to Crucify Christ
Think about it: if God had elected everyone from the beginning, who would have crucified Christ?
Someone had to carry out that act — not because they were puppets, but because redemption required it.
The cross was not a divine accident — it was a divine orchestration.
It looked like rejection, but it was redemption.
It looked like defeat, but it was victory.
When Israel stumbled, the door swung open wide — to the Gentiles, to the nations, to the world.
What looked like God’s favouritism was actually the unfolding of grace’s greatest story — the Church, the true Israel, born through faith.
The Election Expanded
In that moment, the plan that was once limited to a nation expanded to all humanity.
The covenant of promise became a covenant of grace.
The same faith that justified Abraham now justifies us.
The same God who worked through one nation now calls every tribe and tongue His own.
It was never about exclusion — it was about timing.
It was never about privilege — it was about purpose.
What looked like God choosing some and rejecting others was God carefully building a redemptive timeline, layer upon layer, until it all converged on one Man — Jesus Christ.
Oh, the Riches of His Wisdom
Paul’s words echo across history like a song of awe:
“Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!”
Who could ever think of such a plan?
Who could counsel God on how to redeem humanity?
Who could repay Him for what He has done?
None.
Every ounce of righteousness, redemption, and holiness we have is not from us —
it is from Christ, through Christ, and to Christ.
And to Him — and Him alone — be all the glory.
