There’s a strange little verse tucked into 1 Corinthians 15:56 that says:
“The strength of sin is the law.”
Wait… what? Isn’t the law supposed to stop sin?
Well, not exactly.
The law is holy, righteous, and good (Romans 7:12), but it was never meant to empower you to live right. It was meant to show you how far off the mark you are—like a mirror that reveals dirt but can’t clean your face.
So when someone keeps preaching law, law, law—“do better, try harder, follow these rules”—they may mean well, but what they’re actually doing is feeding sin. They’re giving it fuel.
Why? Because the more you focus on what you must do, the more you become aware of how much you’re not doing. And that produces guilt… shame… and often, more sin.
But here’s the good news:
When someone preaches grace, grace, grace, they’re not ignoring sin—they’re cutting off its power source.
Grace reminds you that Jesus already fulfilled the law on your behalf. It tells you that you’re not trying to earn righteousness—you’ve been given it as a gift. And when you truly receive that, something incredible happens: you start living differently—not out of fear, but out of love.
So here’s the question:
Are you preaching fuel… or freedom?
