I came across a video recently that genuinely made me shake my head.
It said something like:
“Don’t provoke a Principality.”
Really?
So now, apparently, we’re supposed to tiptoe around demons, just in case we offend them?
We Are Not Under the Devil’s Feet—He’s Under Ours
Let me remind you: we are in Christ.
We’re not under the authority of sin and death. We’ve been transferred out of that kingdom. That rule book doesn’t apply to us anymore.
“The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.” – Romans 8:2
The enemy doesn’t get to write the terms. Christ already did.
We Have Authority Over ALL the Power of the Enemy
Jesus didn’t stutter when He said:
“Behold, I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over ALL the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means harm you.” – Luke 10:19
That’s not partial authority. That’s total dominion.
We’re seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph. 2:6), far above every principality and power (Eph. 1:21).
We’re not supposed to be watching our backs, wondering if the devil’s going to retaliate. The devil ought to be the one trembling because a son of God just woke up this morning.
“Don’t provoke the devil…”
Really?
Lester Sumrall, a general of the faith, used to step off the plane in a new city and shout,
“Devil, I’m here!”
He wasn’t picking a fight—he was reminding the powers of darkness that territory just shifted.
Smith Wigglesworth once woke up in the middle of the night and saw the devil standing in his room.
You know what he did?
He shrugged, blew out his candle, and went back to sleep.
That’s not arrogance. That’s someone who knows who he is.
A Story That Broke My Heart
I remember a pastor friend of mine who was reluctant to cast out a demon from a child. He said he didn’t want to do it because he was afraid of the “enemy’s backlash.”
Honestly? That crushed me.
We are children of God.
We have the Holy Spirit in us.
And we’re scared of what the devil might do if we cast him out?
No!
You go through what you tolerate.
If you let fear rule, you’ll keep living under it.
A “Prophetic” Warning I Didn’t Receive
This same friend once prophesied to me that he saw my wife and I in a car accident.
He meant well—but I didn’t even respond to him.
As soon as that call ended, I declared:
“That will NOT happen in the Name of Jesus.”
I’m not subject to fear-based visions.
I walk by faith, not by fear.
We don’t submit to threats of the enemy. We walk in the promises of God.
We Are the New Creation—The Children of the Living God
Let’s talk about identity for a moment.
We are:
- Children of the Living God
- One Spirit with Christ (1 Cor. 6:17)
- A holy nation, a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9)
- The Israel of God (Gal. 6:16)
- The new creation from which everything flows (2 Cor. 5:17)
Do you know what that means?
It means we’re not hoping to get authority—we’re walking in it.
We don’t negotiate with the devil. We evict him.
Whatever You Bind on Earth…
Jesus said:
“Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven…” (Matt. 16:19)
Even the least in the kingdom can cast out demons by the power of God.
You don’t need a title. You don’t need a stage.
You need to know who you are.
The Devil Ought to Be Terrified of You
He’s not the lion. He’s a roaring counterfeit.
You’re the one with the real roar—because the Lion of Judah lives inside of you.
We’re not called to be afraid of the devil. We’re called to crush him underfoot.
“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” – Romans 16:20
So no, I won’t be cautious around principalities.
I’ll confront them. I’ll resist them. I’ll cast them out in Jesus’ name.
Final Thought: This Is War
This isn’t about being confrontational for the sake of it.
This is about knowing your authority—and not backing down.
We’re not walking around saying, “Oh no, what if I provoke something?”
We’re walking into dark places declaring, “Light is here.”
Devil, we’re here.
We’ve got the Spirit.
We’ve got the Word.
And we’re not backing down.
