There are some folks who are absolutely petrified of the devil and his schemes, believing that he’s just waiting to pounce on them. They think that one wrong move will leave them vulnerable to the devil’s attacks. Their whole spiritual outlook revolves around the devil, warning others to steer clear of religious shrines out of fear of the devil’s influence. They caution against consuming food offered to idols, fearing possession by the devil. Their anxiety about potential witchcraft in their meals makes them feel like they’re walking on eggshells.
You have authority in Jesus
However, if we really know who we are in Christ and the authority we have in Him, we wouldn’t be scared. As Jesus said in Matt 28:19
Matthew 28:18–19 (ESV) 18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Jesus said that ALL authority has been given to HIM. Go therefore! Why? Because we are in Christ. So don’t be afraid. So if you are in Christ, and He has all the authority, how much authority do you have? ALL authority! All you need to do is to walk in it.
Gideon found out his authority
Remember that story in Judges 7:13-25 where Gideon, totally freaking out about the enemy, sneaks into their camp only to find them just as scared! The enemy is actually afraid of you. They’re terrified and super worried because they know the true power you have in Christ Jesus.
Dr. Lester Sumrall and authority
Bro. Curry Blake shared an impactful story about his early years with Dr. Lester Sumrall. One day, he witnessed Dr. Sumrall boldly declaring the downfall of ungodly governments and the rise of godly leadership while pacing in a hall and looking at a map. With unwavering faith and authority, this general of God decreed change to happen from that very hall. This story exemplifies the unwavering faith and confidence in the authority believers have in Christ Jesus. Furthermore, every time he set foot on foreign land from an airplane, he would assert, “Devil, I’m here!” This confident declaration exemplifies the unshakable faith and authority he operated in.

What are you waiting for?
That’s the kind of attitude God wants us to have! The Bible provides us with insight into what the enemy thinks about us. He’s terrified of us! The Bible declares that the gates of hades will not prevail against the Church. Because of this, the Church is on the offensive, not sitting around in fear of what the devil might do next. The Church is roaring and on the move, making the gates as flimsy as spaghetti, with no chance of standing in its way!
Believer, imagine if you understood that the enemy trembles at the very thought of you, your every word, decree, and prayer. Would you still cower in fear? The one who terrifies you is trembling in fear of you! There’s no need to be afraid!
