It’s easy to post and preach the Word, but it’s often difficult to apply it. I’ve had situations where I had to pray over situations, and often when it’s a person near and dear, the devil will bring thoughts into my mind saying “what if it doesn’t happen?”
I’m sure you may have gone through the situation as well. We may be tempted to have a backup plan if… well, you know, it doesn’t happen. But I learnt a significant lesson in dealing with situations.
Faith doesn’t have plan B. You stick to plan A, which is “I trust in God. He said it, so be it”, and see the miracle unfold.
When you choose to speak life over a situation, you must do so with unwavering faith—leaving no room for a “Plan B.” True faith doesn’t allow for contingencies or backup plans; it stands firm on the belief that what you are declaring will come to pass. To introduce a Plan B while speaking life is to undermine the foundation of faith itself, because faith is the ASSURANCE of things hoped for, if you have assurance, why do you need a backup plan?
Faith, by its very nature, does not entertain the possibility of “what if it doesn’t happen.” It rests on the assurance of “when it happens.” Consider Hebrews 11:1, which defines faith as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Faith requires a confidence that what you are believing for is already in motion, even when everything says it’s not so. But the only evidence is the faith, and it’s the title dead.
Needless to say, this is extremely unpopular, and I’m not saying not to use meds, or that God is angry at you for using them. In fact there is no bad way to get healed.
Examples of Unwavering Faith
The Bible is full of examples of people who spoke life over impossible situations without a Plan B:
Abraham: When God promised him a son despite his old age, Abraham chose to believe God’s word, even when the circumstances seemed impossible. Romans 4:20 says, “He did not waver in unbelief at God’s promise but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.”
David: Facing Goliath, David didn’t bring a Plan B. He declared that God would deliver the giant into his hands and acted on that belief.
The Woman with the Issue of Blood: She didn’t seek alternative options. She said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed” (Mark 5:28). Her faith was singular and unwavering.
Faith Stands on “When”
Faith doesn’t ask “what if” but confidently declares “when.” Speaking life means trusting that God is already working, even if you don’t see the results yet. James 1:6 reminds us, “But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind.” Doubt introduces instability, but faith anchors us in God’s promises.
Living Without a Plan B
To live without a Plan B is to live in the fullness of faith. It’s not a reckless abandonment of wisdom, but rather a confident reliance on the God who has never failed. When you speak life, speak it boldly, knowing that the God who spoke the universe into existence is more than capable of fulfilling His promises.
The next time you’re tempted to create a backup plan, ask yourself: Am I truly trusting God? Faith doesn’t hedge its bets. It stands firm on the assurance that God will do exactly what He said He would do.
Let your words of life be spoken with full conviction, and let your faith rest in the “when,” not the “what if.”
